ব্যাখ্যাঃ

এখানে সঠিক উত্তরটি হলো "for" (অপশন 2)।

বিস্তারিত ব্যাখ্যা:

প্রশ্নোক্ত বাক্যটি হলো "We kept in touch with the authorities, _____ some of the street lights were broken in our neighborhood-"। এই বাক্যে দুটি অংশ রয়েছে: প্রথমটি "We kept in touch with the authorities" এবং দ্বিতীয়টি "some of the street lights were broken in our neighborhood"। দ্বিতীয় অংশটি প্রথম অংশের কারণ ব্যাখ্যা করছে।
"for" একটি Coordinating Conjunction (সমন্বয়কারী অব্যয়) হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে, যার অর্থ "because" বা "since"। এটি দুটি স্বাধীন clause-কে যুক্ত করে এবং পূর্ববর্তী clause-এর কারণ নির্দেশ করে। যেমন: "He was late, for his car broke down." (সে দেরি করেছিল, কারণ তার গাড়ি নষ্ট হয়ে গিয়েছিল।)
আমাদের প্রদত্ত বাক্যে "for" ব্যবহার করলে এটি সঠিক অর্থ প্রদান করে: "We kept in touch with the authorities, for some of the street lights were broken in our neighborhood."

যেমন: "The street lights were broken; therefore, we kept in touch with the authorities." কিন্তু আমাদের বাক্যে কারণ নির্দেশ করার প্রয়োজন, ফলাফল নয়।
in case of: এটি একটি Prepositional Phrase যার অর্থ "যদি ঘটে" বা "কোনো ঘটনা ঘটলে"। এর পরে একটি noun বা noun phrase বসে, কোনো পূর্ণ clause বসে না। যেমন: "In case of fire, use the stairs." (আগুন লাগলে সিঁড়ি ব্যবহার করুন।) এখানে "in case of some of the street lights were broken" বাক্যগতভাবে ভুল।
because of: এটিও একটি Prepositional Phrase যার অর্থ "কারণে" বা "জন্য"। এর পরেও একটি noun বা noun phrase বসে, কোনো পূর্ণ clause বসে না। যেমন: "We cancelled the picnic because of the rain." (বৃষ্টির কারণে আমরা পিকনিক বাতিল করেছিলাম।) এখানে "because of some of the street lights were broken" বাক্যগতভাবে ভুল। এটি "because of the broken street lights" হলে সঠিক হতো, কিন্তু প্রদত্ত বাক্যের গঠন ভিন্ন।

সুতরাং, বাক্যের অর্থ এবং ব্যাকরণগত কাঠামো অনুযায়ী "for" সবচেয়ে উপযুক্ত এবং সঠিক বিকল্প।

Subordinating Conjunctions

Subordinating Conjunction

We study hard so that we can pass the exam.

We had reached the station before the train left.

We waited in the street until he came.

নিচে Subordinating Conjunction-এর ওপর একটি বিস্তারিত নোট দেওয়া হলো যা আপনার ওয়েবসাইটের জন্য উপযোগী:

Note: Subordinating Conjunction

(Examples)
সময় (Time)	When, While, After, Before, Until, Since, As soon as	Wait here until I return.
কারণ (Cause/Reason)	Because, Since, As	I couldn't go because I was ill.
শর্ত (Condition)	If, Unless, Provided that	If it rains, we will not go.
উদ্দেশ্য (Purpose)	That, So that, In order that, Lest	We eat so that we may live.
ফলাফল (Result)	So... that, Such... that	He is so weak that he cannot walk.
বৈপরীত্য (Concession)	Though, Although, Even if	Though he is poor, he is honest.
তুলনা (Comparison)	Than, As... as	He is taller than I am.

৩. বাক্যে ব্যবহারের নিয়ম (Punctuation):

ক) যখন Conjunction বাক্যের শুরুতে থাকে:

যদি Subordinating Conjunction দিয়ে বাক্য শুরু হয়, তবে মাঝখানে একটি কমা (,) ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

Structure: [Subordinating Clause] +, + [Main Clause]
Example: Because he was late, he missed the bus.

খ) যখন Conjunction বাক্যের মাঝখানে থাকে:

যদি কনজাংশনটি মাঝখানে বসে, তবে সাধারণত কোনো কমার প্রয়োজন হয় না।

Structure: [Main Clause] + [Subordinating Clause]
Example: He missed the bus because he was late.

৪. বিশেষ কিছু কনজাংশনের ব্যবহার:

Unless (যদি না): এটি নেতিবাচক অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। এর সাথে আলাদা করে 'not' বসে না।
- Example: You will fail unless you study hard.
Lest (পাছে ভয় হয় যে): এর পরের ক্লজে সাধারণত 'should' বা 'might' বসে।
- Example: Walk fast lest you should miss the train.
Since (যেহেতু / থেকে): এটি কারণ এবং সময় উভয়ই বোঝাতে পারে।
- Example: Since you are busy, I will come later.

৫. সঠিক প্রয়োগের আরও কিছু উদাহরণ:

As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away.
I have been living here since I was a child.
Although it was raining, we went out to play.
He speaks as if he knew everything.
